1. Two of the eight covenants of the Bible are conditional: the Edenic Covenant and the Mosaic Covenant. 2. The old covenant came by Moses while the new covenant came by Jesus Christ 3. Old covenant was created at exodus, new covenant created at crucifixion 4. In the Adam covenant he represented the whole human race, while in the Abraham covenant represented jewish nation not whole human race
Abraham covenant
Abraham stood as the representative head of the whole Jewish nation, not for all humanity. hears voice saying if he goes and leaves he will have a longer life and many descendants and you will be victorious over enemies as you move Abraham decides to follow Yahweh and leave his land to go to Israel, births Issac... Also god asks him to be circumcised and that begins jewish tradition
Covenant
Covenant = contract A covenant was basically a contract/ an agreement with god and his people, in which God makes promises to his people and, usually, requires certain conduct from them to get rewarded -In the Old Testament, God made agreements with Noah, Abraham, and Moses.
Adam Covenant
God and Adam are involved in this covenant in which Adam again represented the whole human race. Thus the judgment on Adam is the judgment on all humanity.
The New Testament Covenant
No Jewish person believes this covenant is necessary Christians believe this covenant is the new everlasting covenant We are supposed to pour out loving actions just as Jesus did When David became king - Messiah came to existence Jewihs people are still waiting Jesus is the anointed one with salvation for Christians
Mosaic Covenant
The covenant was made with Israel and not merely with Moses acting as a representative of Israel. The people will be loyal by following the 10 commandments If they broke any of the commandments they had to seek forgiveness Moses was considered a prophet, a great teacher - he was the one who received the Decalogue Jesus was a great teacher, great prophet and his taught the beatitudes; both were miracle workers
Noah Covenant
This covenant was made between God and Noah. Noah stood as the representative for the entire human race God blessed Noah and his sons and said "be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth" Agreement on covenant- no eating meat unless draining blood first
David Covenant
Yahweh makes a covenant with David Promises David that he thrown will be secure for a long time For the Jews they viewed David's kingship as a sign of God's future kingship on Earth Created house of god even though god said its too hard so he named it house of david.. called The messiah God's holy anointed king
The land covenant
between god and Israel. title deed to the Land as belonging to Israel. Although she would prove unfaithful and disobedient, the right to the Land would never be taken from her. Last Supper - Jesus takes blood and binds himself to the people
2 types of covenants
conditional- if you will, then I will....God promises to grant special blessings to man if the man does certain things god expects contained in the covenant. If they aren't done then theres punishment unconditional-I will... God obligates Himself to bring to blessings and conditions for the covenanted people.
The Edenic Covenant
