The Abducen Nerve.... 6 (VI)

Abducen nerve primary function is motor of the eye movement. Originates from the Pons from the bottom of the pons. The pathway is from the superior obital fissures of spheniod. The destination is the lateral rectus muscle.

Mix Nerves

Mix Nerves have a mixture of sensory and motor fibers.

Four types of Cranial Nerves

1. sensory nerve 2. special sensory nerve 3. motor nerve 4. mix nerve

Cranial Nerves

Are PNS components that connect directly to the brain. 12 pairs of cranial nerves are visible on the ventral surface of brain.

Motor Nerves

Motor Nerves are dominated by the axons of somatic motor neurons.

The Olfactory Nerve... 1 (I)

Olfactory is a special sensory; smell. Originate at the Receptors of olfactory receptors are specialized neurons in the epithelium covering the roof of the nasal cavity. Destination is the olfactory bulbs. Olfactory nerve is the only one that connected directly to cerebrum. The rest connects to the brain stem and diencephalon.

The Optic Nerve....2 (II)

Optic Nerve is a special sensory and primary function is for vision. The Origin is the retina of the eye. This nerve passes through the optic canals of the sphenoid. Destination is through the Diencephalon via Optic Chiasn. Optic Chiasn is where they they

Sensory nerves

Sensory nerves carry somatic sensory information, including touch, pressure, vibration, temperature, or pain.

Which has Sensory, Motor or both

Some Say Marry Money, But My Brother Say Big Bras Matter Most. 1. Some - sensory-Ofactory 2. Say - Sensory- Optic 3. Marry - Motor- Oculomoter 4. Money- Motor - Trochlear 5. But - Both- Trigeminal 6. My - Motor- Abducens 7. Brother- Both- Facial 8. Say- Sensory- Vestibulocochlear 9. Big- Both - Glossopharyngeal 10. Bras - Both - Vagus 11. Matter- Motor- Spinal Accessory 12. Most - Motor- Hypoglossal

Special Sensory Nerves

Special Sensory nerves carry the sensations of smell, sight, hearing or balance.

The Facial Nerve....7 (VII)

The Facial nerve primary function is a Mix. 1. Sensory to taste sweet and salty. Taste receptors on the anterior of 2/3 of the tongue. 2. motor to make facial expressions and salivary glands. Its the motor nuclei of the pons. The pathway is the internal acoustic meatus to facial canals. stylomastiod foramena. Ten Zebras Brought My Car = Temperal, Zygomatie, Buccal, Masseteric, Carvical

The Glossopharyngeal Nerves....9 (IX)

The Glossopharyngeal nerve is a mix; Sensory and motor to head and neck. 1. Somatic ensory is the posterior one-third of the tongue for taste, part of pharynx and palate, carotid arteries of the neck. The motor is nuclei of Medulla oblongata. The motor is for swallowing and the muscles in the pharynx.

The Oculomotor Nerve.... 3 (III)

The Oculomotor Nerve primary function is motor for the eye ball movement, to raise the eye lids and allowing the eye to adjust the amount of light entering the eyes a and allows the lens to focus. The Orgin arises from the midbrain, on top of the pons and the pathway through superior orbital fissures of sphenoid. Somatic Motor.... 4 of 6 extringic eye muscles. Visceral Motor... intrinsic eye muscles. Controls nearly all eye muscles!

The Spinal Accessory Nerve.....11 (XI)

The Spinal Accessory nerve primary function is the motor to muscles of the neck and upper back, Trapezious muscle. From medulla Oblongata on the bottom of the medulla. For the head and shoulder movement.

The Trochlear Nerve...4 (IV)

The Trochlear Nerve primary function is motor for the eye movement. It originates at the Midbrain, the skinny nerve, next to the Pons. The Pathway is from the superior Orbital fissure of sphenoid. The destination is the superior oblique muscles. The muscle that passes through the trochlea.

The Vagus Nerve .....10 (X)

The Vagus Nerve is a Wonder. It is a mix; sensory and Motor. It distributed in the thorax and abdomen. From the back side of medulla ob. 1. Sensory: Part of the Pharynx, taste to posterior tongue, auricle and external acoustic meatus...portions of the exterior ear, Diaphragm and visceral organs in thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities. 2. Motor: Somatic motor for the muscles of pharynx. Visceral/Parasympathetic Motor for the fibers of the heart and other viscera.

The Vestibulocochlear Nerve....8 (VIII)

The Vestibulocochlear Nerve is a Special sensory nerve for balance and equilibruim and hearing . It origin is from the medulla oblongata. The pathway is internal acoustic meatus of the temperal bone. Only nerve that goes to the ear. There are two parts 1. Vestibular branch: Located in the ganglia associated with the parts of the inner ear and serve to help to maintain equilibrium. 2. Cochlear branch: Located in parts of the inner ear that house the hearing receptors.

The Hypoglossal Nerve.....12 (XII)

The hypoglossal nerve primary function is motor. Allows you to stick out your tongue and for tongue movement. From the medulla Oblongata, its the big nerve in front on top of the medulla.

Trigeminal Nerve....5 (V)

Trigeminal nerve is the largest cranial nerve that with three major branches. Primary function; Sensory is for the head and face. Motor is chewing. 1. Ophthalmic...sensory for nasal cavity, skin forehead, eyebrow, upper eyelid. 2. Maxillary... sensory for lower eyelid, upper lid, gums and teeth. 3. Mandibular...Mix: sensory is for lower gums. Motor is for chewing.
