Individualizing a company culture makes the lives of those served by HR better; helps employees find purpose and meaning in their work When the culture has been successfully personalized, employees understand how their work benefits the company and themselves

HR professionals must work with management to ensure that

1. Decisions are made quickly 2. Human, financial and information resources are aligned with the desired change 3. Progress of key change initiatives are monitored 4. Lessons learned are captured 5. Lessons are used to improve future change efforts

Crafting Culture

1. Having a clear concept of the culture required by the business 2. Define the culture so that it understood by those inside and outside 3. Communicate the desired culture broadly and frame it in ways that engage employees 4. Put systems and practices into place that align behaviour and organization goals at all levels

Facilitate change by 2 ways:

1. Help develop the right culture in the organization 2. Develop disciplines to make change happen throughout the organization HR professionals help turn what is known into what is done.

Enacting culture

1. Making sure the crafted culture is consistent, coherent and cohesive across business functions 2. Also in the minds of customers and shareholders 3. Culture becomes a firm brand when linked to customers and investors

What is culture?

1. Organizational values 2. Shared beliefs 3. Norms and expectations 4. Communication practices/ sense of respect

Stewards of Culture:

1. Respect those aspects of past culture that deserve respect 2. Shape a new culture that will facilitate organization success 3. Coach managers in how their actions reflect and drive culture 4. Weave cultural standards into HR practices and processes; make culture real to employees

Facilitating Change

1. The right changes need to be coupled with speed to create competitive advantage 2. The culture needs to incorporate "fast change" as a capability
