What is a mask?

An image of the same area before the contrast.

What does DSA do?

It is a type of fluoroscopy used to clearly see blood vessels in a bony or dense soft tissue.

How are images produced?

Using contrast medium by subtracting "pre-contrast image" aka MASK. In order to see blood vessels better, a mask is used.
