tribute

A tribute commemorates lives or accomplishments of people, groups, institutions, or events and can be given with the recipient present or posthumously (after death).

roast

A roast is a humorous tribute to a person and almost exclusively a U.S. cultural phenomenon.

special occasion speech

A special occasion speech has the general purpose to celebrate, commemorate, inspire, or entertain. The speaker's intent is to mark the occasion by making it a time to rejoice, honor, arouse, or amuse.

A speech of award acceptance is the response you give when receiving an award, prize, or honor.

The word eulogy derives from the Greek word eulogia, meaning "praise" or "good word," and is a speech presented after a person's death, at ceremonies such as funerals.

Speeches to celebrate will honor or highlight a person, group, institution, place, or event.

speeches to commemorate

Speeches to commemorate pay tribute to or remember a person, group, institution, place or event. Unlike the speech to celebrate, which honors the event of the moment, speeches to commemorate reside more in the past or future.

speeches to entertain

Speeches to entertain have the general goal to amuse, delight, and engage the audience for the purpose of enjoyment, with a bit of wisdom or tribute thrown in, depending on the special occasion.

speeches to inspire

Speeches to inspire are created to motivate, stir, encourage, or arouse the audience.

speech of award presentation

You will give a speech of award presentation when you are asked or are in a position to be the individual announcing the recipient(s) of an award, prize, or honor.
