Extension Cord Repair: The best thing to do with a damaged extension cord is to replace it.

Safe Extension Cord Use: Keep cords from vehicles and pedestrian traffic, Do not raise or lower electrical equipment by the power cord or attached extensions cords.

Low voltages can be just as deadly as high voltages if the body is a part of the circuit for a longer time.

Safety Devices that prevent shock: Insulation, electrical, protective devices, guarding, grounding, personal protective equipment, and safe work practices.

A GFCI is a fast-acting circuit breaker that pops open as soon as it senses a 5mA +/- 1mA current leakage to ground.

A GFCI won't protect you from line to line contact hazards, but it does provide protection against the most common form of electrical hazard for construction workers..the ground fault.

Do not fasten extension cords to structures with staples or nails, Store extension cords in a way that will not damage the outer jacket or insulation.

Circuit Protective Devices: OSHA requires either ground-fault circuit interrupters "GFCI's" or assured equipment ground conductor program to be used at job sites.

Electrical Safety: A complete circuit is made up of a source of electricity, a conductor, and a consuming device such as a portable drill

Electric current travels in closed circuits and a person gets shocked when some part of their body becomes a part of that electric circuit.

Safe Work Practices: Ensure tools are in working condition, Inspecting electrical equipment regularly, Following OSHA regulations when working near overhead or underground electrical lines. Using personal protective equipment P.P.E.

Electrical Shock: NEVER TOUCH an electrocution victim until the power is turned off. Contact First Responder

The Assured Equipment Grounding Conductor Program: All extension cords, Receptacles that are not a part of the permanent wiring of a structure.

Equipment connected by a cord and plug that is available for use or is used by employees.

Ground Plug Removal: removing a ground plug from an extension cord is against OSHA regulations.

Hard Service/Extra Hard Service Cords: When working in construction work you must use Hard or Extra Hard service three -wire extension cords....S, ST, SO, STO, SJ, SJO, SJT, and SJTO

Lockout/Tagout: Program protects you from accidental exposure to energized equipment or circuits on the job site.

Power must be turned off at the switch & padlocked in the off position.

Under the program OSHA requires that electrical equipment be inspected daily for damage or defects.

The equipment must also be tested to ensure it's grounding conductor is electrically continuous and connected to it's proper terminal. Before 1st use, After any suspected damage, At least every 3 months
