Pancreas

A long gland behind the stomach that secretes insulin and glucogen into the blood stream. It also assists in digestion.

Adrenal Glands

A pair of endocrine glands that sit just above the kidneys and secrete hormones (epinephrine and norepinephrine) that help arouse the body in times of stress. It produces adrenaline.

Thyroid Gland

A two-lobed endocrine gland located in front of and on either side of the trachea. It produces various hormones control metabolic functions and body growth.

Hormones

Chemical messengers that are manufactored by the endocrine glands, travel through the bloodstream, and affect other tissues.

Pituitary Gland

The endocrine system's most influential gland, known as the master gland. Under the influence of the hypothalamus, it regulates growth and controls other endocrine glands.

Reproductive Glands

The main source of sex hormones. In males, the testes secrete testosterone, and in females, the ovaries produce estrogen.
