Extraneous variable

are any variables other than the independent variables that seem likely to influence the dependent variable in a certain study.

Confounding variable

occurs when two variables are linked in a way that makes it difficult to sort out their specific effects.

Control Group

the similar subjects who do not receive the special treatment given to the experimental group.

Experimental Group

the subjects that receive some type of special treatment in regards to the independent variable.
