30th June 1934, Hitler had become concerned by the increasing power of the SA, which had 73 million members + wanted control of the army. On this night, 400 SA leaders were taken to Nazi headquarters + shot dead. The SA leader Rohm as arrested + shot dead in prison. This sent a warning to the rest of Germany + won over the army, by taking away their opponents
