Wrist: lateral projection (part position)

Flex elbow 90 degrees or fully extend elbow. ULNAR surface against IR. Wrist in true lateral position. Center IR to wrist joint

List the essential projections for the wrist

PA lateral PA oblique, lateral rot. PA ulnar deviation Scaphoid PA Axial Stecher method Carpal canal tangential Gaynor hart method

Hand: lateral projection (part position)

Ulnar surface resting of IR; extend fingers, with first digit placed at right angles to the palm, separate (fan) the digits, center MCP joints to center of IR

Hand: PA oblique projection, lateral rotation Collimation

1 in on all sides of hand, inc. 1 in proximal to ulnar styloid

Hand: PA Projection (Collimation)

1 in on all sides of hand, including 1 in proximal to ulnar styloid

Hand: lateral projection Collimation

1 in on all sides of hand, including 1 in proximal to ulnar styloid

Scaphoid PA Axial: Stecher Method Collimation

2.5 in proximal and distal to the wrist joint and 1 in on sides

Wrist: PA oblique, lateral rotation Collimation

2.5 in proximal and distal to the wrist joint and 1 in on sides

Wrist: PA projection Collimation

2.5 in proximal and distal to the wrist joint and 1 in on sides

Wrist: lateral projection Collimation

2.5 in proximal and distal to the wrist joint and 1 in on sides

Wrist: PA projection, Ulnar deviation Collimation

2.5 in proximal and distal to wrist joint and 1 in on sides

Carpal Canal: Tangential Projection (Gaynor-Hart Method) CR

Dir. to palm of hand at a point app. 1 in distal to the base of the 3rd MC + at an angle of 25-30 degrees to long axis of hand.

Wrist: PA oblique, lateral rotation

From the pronated position, rotate the wrist laterally until it forms a 45 degree angle with plane of IR

Carpal Canal: Tangential Projection (Gaynor-Hart Method) part position

HYPEREXTEND WRIST, center IR to joint at level of RADIAL STYLOID. Place long axis of hand as vertical as possible, rotating slightly towards radial side. Have patient grasp fingers with opposite hand to hold wrist in position

Hand: PA oblique projection, lateral rotation part position

Hand pronated, rotate hand laterally until MCP joints form 45-degree angle with IR. Spread fingertips. May use a 45-degree accessory sponge. The digits should be parallel with the IR. When the injury is only in MC area, the fingertips may touch the IR.

Carpal Canal: Tangential Projection (Gaynor-Hart Method) Collimation

Include palmar aspect of wrist, proximal one third of MC's, and 1 in on sides

Specifically, which bones are superimposed in the fan lateral?

Metacarpals and proximal phalanges

List the essential projections for the hand

PA PA oblique, lateral rotation lateral

Wrist: PA projection, Ulnar deviation CR

Perpendicular to SCAPHOID; CR angulation of 10-15 degrees. Prox or dist sometimes required for clear delineation

Wrist: PA oblique, lateral rotation CR

Perpendicular to midcarpals

Wrist: PA projection CR

Perpendicular to midcarpals

Scaphoid PA Axial: Stecher Method CR

Perpendicular to the table and directed to enter the Scaphoid

Hand: PA Projection (CR)

Perpendicular to third MCP joint

Scaphoid PA Axial: Stecher Method (Part position)

Place one end of IR on a sandbag so that the finger end of IR is elevated 20 DEGREES (Inclined toward elbow). Place wrist in PA POSITION, centering carpals app. a half inch above midpoint of IR

Wrist: PA projection, Ulnar deviation

Position wrist and center IR as for PA wrist. TURN HAND OUTWARD without moving the forearm until wrist is in extreme ULNAR DEVIATION

Wrist: PA projection (part position)

Rest forearm on table, with long axis of forearm parallel to long axis of IR. Center to carpals. ARCH HAND SLIGHTLY at joints flexing digits which places wrist closer to IR

Hand: PA Projection (Position part)

long axis of arm to long axis of IR. Palmar surface down, spread digits slightly, Center IR to MCP joints.

Hand: lateral projection CR

perpendicular to SECOND digit MCP joint

Hand: PA oblique projection, lateral rotation (CR)

perpendicular to third MCP joint

Wrist: lateral projection CR

perpendicular to wrist joint
