Muscular System

Makes all movement possible from moving skeletal muscles (walking, running, etc) to digestion (smooth muscle).

Reproductive System

Makes it possible for humans to produce offspring.

Endocrine System

Produces chemicals (hormones) that control many of the body's functions.

Excretory System

Removes liquid waste and helps maintain salt balance in the body

Circulatory System

Supplies the body with blood, nutrients, and O2 through a systems of vessels; works with many systems.

Immune System

The body's defense system- works to keep the body germ free.

Lymphatic System

Acts like a "drain" to remove the body's excess fluid and return portions to the blood. Contains lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) that protect the body against disease.

Nervous System

Allows the body to sense and respond to its environment; helps maintain homeostasis.

Digestive System

Breaks down food into small molecules so that they can be absorbed and moved into the blood. Removes solid wastes. 2 Types- mechanical & chemical.

Respiratory System

Breathing- Movement of chest to bring fresh air in and "waste" air out. Supplies O2 and removes CO2.

Skeletal System

Gives shape and support to the body; protects organs; produces red blood cells.

Integumentary System

Has several functions- protects the body, vitamin D production, regulates body temperature, gets rid of wastes.
