Mouse
Input Device - sometimes called a point and click as this is its main use. Has the advantage of making computers easier to use for all "users"
OMR Scanner
Input Device - stands for Optical Mark Recognition. Used to scan marked paper such as a register or a lottery ticket form. Much quicker and reduces error.
Barcode Scanner
Input Device used in supermarkets. This has the advantage of reducing error and increasing the speed to serve customers
Keyboard
Input Device which allows you to key in data QWERTY keyboards are the most common
Plotter
Output Device - used by design firms and architects to produce larger copies or printouts. Very costly device and specialist usage.
Printer
Output Device - used to get a physical copy of your work. Laser Printers are used by businesses but are very costly
Monitor
Output Device which displays information on screen
Hard-Drive
Storage Device - Found inside the computer. Very large capacity to store information but not easy to carry around with you
CD-ROM
Storage Device - Optical disc. This form of CD can only be read from. You cannot change what is on it. This is often used for computer games.
USB Stick
Storage Device - most common form of storage device as easy to transfer data, relatively quick to save and low cost device.
