Leaders Safety Course and Occupational Health Course (LSC) U.S Army
An explosive safety management plan or ESMP is a way to help keep your personnel safe with explosives. What is contained in the ESMP?
A list of required explosives safety training, oversight, management, coordination, SOP's, safety policies, directives, investigation and reporting procedures for an accident.
Would you care to try again? What is one source that would help you define the different classifications of an Army accident?
AR 385-10
Where can I find the regulatory requirements for my unit's safety SOP, and how do I subdivide tasks?
AR 385-10 and DA Pam 385-10 list the regulatory requirements. To subdivide tasks, you break them into elements that will make it easier for personnel to follow, from beginning to end-, which also allows the user to complete the task.
What are two different sources that define the different classifications of an Army accident?
AR 385-10 and the U.S Army Combat Readiness Center's Website.
During troop leading procedures, when do you start identifying hazards?
As soon as I hear or see a hazard, I make note of it.
So, if you identify a hazard in the receipt of mission you record it. When would you implement controls?
As soon as I possibly could.
Please name three of the tactical safety areas.
Bivouac areas, tactical water operations, and environmental hazards.
That's all one step what are the others?
Course of action development and analysis.
Range safety is an important part of ensuring our Soldiers are ready to fight and win. What are the commander's responsibilities when it comes to this topic?
Designate and OIC and an RSO, ensure that these people have the proper training, are qualified on the weapon being trained, and meet the proper rank requirement.
What are some risk management responsibilities for Army Leaders?
Ensuring my personnel are trained on their METL tasks, training personnel to be competent in the integration of risk management, and applying risk management to all activities. (wrong)
What are the exceptions provided in the Executive Order and CFR 1960?
Exemptions include specific vehicles design for military use only and the OSHA standards are not practicable.
What are some of the identified hazards of a bivouac site?
Field sanitation, field mess operations, carbon monoxide poisoning, generators, and movement of motor vehicles.
Each SDS has sixteen sections. Why don't yo describe the four sections you find most critical for your hazardous chemical safety assessment?
Hazard(s) identification, first-aid measures, firefighting measures, and handling and storage requirements are the most critical.
As a commander or supervisor what is your role in motor vehicle safety?
I ensure that all personnel on and off duty follow AR 385-10. This includes personal vehicles, Army vehicles, motorcycles, tactical use, non-tactical use, pedestrian, and bicycle safety. Also, I report severe automotive accidents to the U.S Army Combat Readiness Center.
Close. As a leader, what are your responsibilities surrounding controls?
I'll brief the controls selected by the commander and ensure my personnel follow the controls. I'll evaluate the controls, and if they are ineffective, I'll modify them for my unit's usage. (wrong)
Describe the different components of workplace safety.
Job hazard analysis, electrical safety, and a HAZCOM program.
What safety personnel do you have direct access to?
My ADSO, my civilian CDSO, and specific area experts that can be either military or civilian. I can also reach up to the Battalion or Brigade level if required.
Describe how you would choose and train your organization's drivers.
My organization will evaluate potential drivers based on maturity, duty performance, previous driving records, and performance during the required driver's training courses.
When would the OSHA standards not apply? Be as clear as possible.
OSHA standards do apply, but CFR 1960 and Executive Order 12196 both provide exceptions to using OSHA.
You are partially correct, tell me when you would use this process?
On all Army operations. It will also be used for garrison activities and everyday operations.
Is there an additional data source?
TMs, TCs, and other doctrinal publications to include ATPs, ADRs, and ATTPs.(wrong)
What is the approved method to determine the safety culture in an organization and who must participate in this program?
The ARAP or the Army Readiness Program is a mandatory program for Battalion or Battalion equivalent organizations, but participation is voluntary.
Please describe the third step of the risk management process, developing controls and making risk decisions.
The controls can modify the probability a/ or severity. Each command sets the level of risk each command can assume.
Which military decision-making process step or steps contain more than two risk management steps?
The orders production , dissemination, and transition steps.
Please describe the risk management process.
The process is to identify and assess hazards, develop and implement controls, and supervise and evaluate the process.(wrong)
On the U.S Army Combat Readiness Center's website, where could a commander find range safety historical information?
The website's on-duty tab, Range and Weapon Safety Toolbox.
A soldier is working under a vehicle in a motor pool and not wearing safety googles. hydraulic fluid splashes in his eyes after which he permanently loses vision in one eye. Is this event an Army accident, and if so, what class? Walk me through your thought process.
This is a Class B Army accident. I would also look into why the Soldier was not wearing proper eye protection.
Please clarify the supervisor or commander's role.
We must brief Class A motor vehicle accidents to higher, ensure PMCS is being accomplished, select and train operators based on their abilities, ensure drivers are sober and rested, ground guides are used, and safety equipment like seat belts, troop straps, tailgates, and helmets are used.
Are there any other critical sections?
Yes, toxicological information, ecological information, and disposal considerations.
