Responsibilities of the JICC Watch Officer

Active management of the MTN Supervises JICC personnel during planning, management and execution of Link ops Monitors overall quality of the MTN

Sensor Errors

Whatever elevation, azimuth, or range errors a sensor experiences will be passed on.

Responsibilities of the Link 11/11B Manager

-Assist in preparing OPTASK LINK -designate DNCS for link 11 -Coordinate changes to freqs -Changes to Link 11/11b config -corrective actions -dlrp changes -coordinate crypto -changes to the link 11 gru -perform ncs for dcn

Causes of dual designations

-Failure to coordinate tracks -Same track is being reported on multiple TN's -C2 IU's participating with poor reception capability -Registration errors in unit pos or radar alignment or inability to remain in gridlock causing an IU not to correlate its own unit radar video with received tracks -Areas of high-track density or maneuvering tracks merging tracks -Use of automatic tracking radars or beacons -data filters that block the receipt of track

Why do Link Managers and unit operators use data filters?

-To prevent and individual IU from being overloaded -To avoid overloading a specific data link -To avoid overloading a LInk 16 NPG transmit buffer -To divide R^2 -To control transmission and reception of SPI and simulation data -Control transmission and reception of data based on treaties or national restriction.

Primary causes of Data Loops

-When there is uncoordinated data forwarding in the MTA -CIU's operating in the presence of active data forwarders (FJU)

TBM events. What J-series messages are put out?

3.0, 3.6?

Track by exception

Caveat to a mutual tracking or TPA plan. When an IU detects a target in another IU's TPA which has not been reported by the owner of that TPA, they will transmit that track.

Responsibilities of the JTDC

Clarity Accuracy Currency Quality of tactical pictures Assist in preparation of changes to the OPTASK LINK msg acts as the NCS for the TSN monitors the exchange of track data and related acions Transmits CDO's to resolve environment and id conflicts coordinates changes in AOR's for surv as the tactical situation changes and the use of data filters Designates Link 11/11b/16 EW data forwarding mode designates the inter-link GRU and directs inter-link GRU changes as required Data registration - clarity of the tp Individual IU's prepare their data base prior to transmitting confirm that participants have taken the measrure prior to authorizing the units to transmit

Data Registration

Condition of correct relative alignment between local and remote track positional data

What can happen to the data if the information is forwarded from Link 16 to Link 11/11B?

Data processing errors

How should each Link in the MTA be established?

Equipment prep and OPT ASK LINK Data entry, Establish Voice comm, establish each TDL independently, FRU/FPUS begin operations, Link Managers report to JICO/JICC WO, Legacy TDLS Inhibit Track transmissions, FJUS go active, PUs/RUS go active, begin TDL maintenance Ops,

Forwarders

Forwarding PU (FPU)-Link 11/11B Forwarding RU (FRU)-2 Link 11/11B circuits Forwarding JU Link 16 and others FJUA Link 16 and Link 11 FJUB Link 16 and Link 11B FJUG Link 16 and generic TDL - JREAP, SADL, NATO Link 1, ATDL-1 FJUAB Link 16, Link 11/11B FJUAG Link 16, Link 11, Generic TDL FJUBG Link 16, Link 11B, Generic TDL FJUABG Link 16, Link 11/11B, Generic TDL

Participants

IU-Any TDL platform PU-Link 11 RU-Link 11B JU-Link16 SU-Nato Link 1 JREU-JREAP only JREJU-Both JRE and JTIDS/MIDS MLRYU-MIDS relay unit (JTIDS platforms

What happens if you lose a forwarder for more than 6 seconds.

If a C2IU not actively reporting the common track does not receive a remote track report for "how many seconds" they will assume R2

Geodetic position errors

If a unit's position is off by half a mile, the entire unit's track reports will be off by the same.

Where will the JICC be located?

JFACC Command Center

Responsible for active management of MTN operations

JICC watch officer

Responsible for the supervision of resolution of dual designations. Operates as an integral component of the combat ID process

JTDC

Gridlock

Link 11 procedure for eliminating induced track position errors caused by navigation error and radar misalignment between two or more PU's. This allows track data in effect to align so all PU's will see track data in same location.

Track production schemes

Mutual Tracking, TPA, Track by exception

Do non-C2JU's produce surveillance tracks?

No

Responsibilities of the JICO

Obtain JFC, JFACC, AADC, JDNO, and other supported commanders plans and IER's. Responsible for the entire interface. Responsibility for providing guidance in the OPTASK LINK

Responsibilities of the Link 16 Manager

Prep Link 16 portions of OPTASK LINK -Specify planning parameters for pri and sec MTA'S to satisfy IER'S -Selection of network design -Manage assign of network roles -direct corrective actions when disruptions -respond to req and dir of ICO -monitor JTIDS/MIDS operation -coordinate Link 16 initialization process -Ensure compliance with IPF -Manage connectivity -monitor timeslot assignments -evaluate Link 16 performance -Perform net control functions for the DCN

Document defining hostile act/hostile intent

ROE

Data Loop

When one of two situations occur 1. A unit receives the same data on more than one path. 2. A unit receives its own data back.

Duplicate track numbers

Same track number used for two or more different tracks

Remote Unit errors

Sum of the three error sources contained in received remote tracks.

Reporting Responsibility

The requirement for the IU with the best positional data on a track to transmit track data on the interface

Different Data Filters

Transmit Filters-transmission of certain data specified by filter. Receive Filters-inhibits reception of data specified by filter Receipt Filters-prevent the track report onto the MTN already being reported by another unit Forwarding Filters-inhibit forwarding data Prearranged filters-identified in the OPTASKLINK Non-prearranged Filters-identified after planning process

Dual designations

Two or more tracks representing the same object reported on the interface

CIU characteristics

Unit that participates on two or more TDLs but does not perform any data forwarding between them. Each participant establishes the link individually and independently. Transmits own local data on all TDL's participating on and can also receive remote data on each TDL. CIU + data forwarder creates the likelihood of a data look.

Data Processing errors

Units must perform coordinate transformations and conversions on remote tracks. Algorithms can induce positional error.

What happens when R^2 changes?

When the C2IU that is not reporting the track calculates a TQ that is 2 higher than what is currently being reported, they will begin actively reporting the track and the other unit will cease reporting it. TN does not change. R^2 value does.

What happens when CDO's are issued?

Will cause all IU's to accept the same Environment and ID data as transmitted by a C2 IU with specific interface authority to issue such an order.
