Mean, Median, Mode, and Range
median
The middle number of a list of data when the numbers are arranged in order from the least to greatest
mean
The number found when the sum of two or more numbers is divided by the number of addends in the sum. (Simile is Average). (3 + 5 + 7 + 6 + 9) / 5 = 6
How do you find "mean"?
Add all numbers in a set of data and then divide the sum by the number of items. Example: 4+2+3+3= 12 12 divided by 4= 3, so 3 is the mean.
How do you find "mode"?
Find the number that repeats the most in a set of data. Example: 1 2 3 4 4 5 6 4 repeats the most so 4 is the mode.
How do you find "median"?
List all the numbers from least to greatest, and then cross out numbers until one in the middle is left. Example: 4 5 6 8 9 6 is the median
How do you find "range"?
Put all the numbers from least to greatest and subtract the smallest number from the greatest. Example: 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 - 1 = 5, so 5 is the range.
total
adding everything together, the entirety of something
sum
adding together, total
sample

What is "range"
the difference between the largest and smallest number in a set of data.
range
the difference between the largest number and the smallest number in a list
mode
the number of numbers that appear most often in a list of data
What is "mode"
the number that repeats the most in a set of data.
statistics
the summary of all the data
calculated
worked out, found the answer
What is "mean"?
you are finding the average.
What is "median"?
you are finding the middle data value in an odd numbered ordered set of data.
