Mexico was mixed with Spanish & American Indians. The cultures mixed. Africans were brought over as slaves; as the Africans & Europeans mixed, they were called mulattoes. Life was greatly influenced by the catholic church. Church outposts & missions were scattered throughout the region. In addition the Mexicans wanted to find gold & silver. American Indians & African slaves did most of the physical labor.
