Zheng He

Zheng He was a Chinese Muslim and court officials. His father died when he was at a young age, so the military took him away. there he educated himself and learned many language. Because of how talented and fluent he was in the several languages, he was useful to the emperor and official and government. helped emperor Yong Le trade with trading in other kingdoms. he lead a journey with 250 small ships and 62 large ships and almost 2800 men.

Yong Le

Zhu Yuanzhang's son. in 1421, he moved the capital to Beijing & wanted to show that he can be a powerful leader/ emperor. Yong Le built a large area of palaces and government buildings which is now known as the Imperial City

Zhu Yuanzhang

a rebel leader in 1368 who became emperor. Moved capital to Nanjing. he ruled for 30 years. Zhu Yuanzhang founded the Ming or "brilliant" dynasty. he is also known for Hong Wu (new name) which meant "military emperor". he brought back order but also was a cruel emperor. Hong Wu trusted no one and killed officials he suspected of treason. died in 1368 and after his death, his son, Yong le (son) became emperor.

Nanjing

city South of China that became the capital of Ming dynasty. Yong Le then moved the capital to Beijing later.

why did the Ming dynasty fall?

emperors were too greedy and too much power all for themselves, so officials had little desire to make improvements. Officials also been creating high taxes for peasants who began revolting. Laws and orders began disappearing, then the people called the Manchus then attacked China's north border. in the end, the Manchus defeated the Chinese armies and captured Beijing. in 1664, they settled up a new dynasty.

how did Yong Le prove he was a powerful emperor?

he worked hard: Moved capital to Beijing & there built palaces, and government buildings (known as the Imperial City)

what was the Forbidden City?

the center of the Imperial City. The Forbidden City has beautiful gardens and many palaces with 1,000s of rooms. Today, the Forbidden City still stands in China today
