About what percent of the light striking the Earth from the Sun is actually captured by living things used to power photosynthesis?

1%

Which of following molecules is used by all cells as the universal energy molecule?

ATP

The light reactions of photosynthesis produce

ATP and NADPH

Which of the following molecules is a product of cellular respiration?

CO2

Prepare a convincing case that photosynthesis and cellular respiration make for a great partnership in sustaining life on Earth. How are these processes interconnected?

Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis have a symbiotic relationship because without eachother neither would be possible. In order for Cellular Respiration to take place, Oxygen would need to be present which is produced through Photosynthesis and released from plants. Without oxygen, life that releases CO2 would not be living and Photosynthesis would not occur because plants, bacteria and protists that perform photosynthesis need CO2. Therefor they are in a symbiotic relation that powers the cycle of life on Earth.

In plants, Photosystem II is known as the "NADPH-producing Photosystem"

False

Plants perform photosynthesis but not cellular respiration.

False

T/F The Light Dependent Reaction of photosynthesis occurs just outside the chloroplast.

False

T/F CAM photosynthesis is a special process that evolved in those plants that live in cooler, more low light conditions.
