Saphenous Nerve

L3, L4 Branch of Femoral Nerve Supplies Sensation to skin of the anterior and medial side of the leg and the medial side of the foot

Deep Peroneal (Fibular) Nerve

L4, L5, S1 Arises at neck of fibula from Common Peroneal (Fibular) Nerve Accompanies anterior tibial artery and veins Runs between the TA and EHL Supplies muscles of anterior compartment of leg + dorsum of foot -Sensation between 1st and 2nd toe on dorsum of foot and ankle joint

Common Peroneal (fibular) Nerve

L4-S2 Branch of Sciatic Nerve No direct motor innervation Skin sensation at kne and proximal aspect of leg. Sensory branch forms sural nerve

Tibal Nerve

L4-S3 Arises from Sciatic Nerve in popliteal fossa Descends in median plane of the fibula, deep to the soleus At ankle it lies between the FHL and FDL (medially) Supplies posterior compartment muscles Posterior-inferior to medial malleolus the nerve divides into medial and lateral plantar nerves Articular branches supply the knee joint Medial calcaneal branches supply the skin of the heel. Forms Sural Nerve

Superficial Peroneal (Fibular) Nerve

L5, S1, S2) Arises at fibular neck from Common Peroneal (Fibular) Nerve Descends in lateral compartment Pierces deep fascia at distal third of leg to become subcutaneous Supplies muscles of lateral compartment of leg -Sensation on distal part of anterior surface of leg and nearly all the dorsum of the foot

Lateral Sural Cutaneous

S1 S2 Branch of common peroneal Nerve Supplies skin on posterolateral leg

Sural Nerve

S1, S2 Arises from a merging of the medial sural cutaneous branch from the Tibial Nerve with the communicating branch of Common Fibular n. supplies sensation to posterolateral leg and lateral foot
