How can I take notes faster and more efficiently?
Key words or phrases, intonation like if a teacher raises her voice, when a teacher pauses, body language like if a teacher points at something or draws in the air, and repetition.
How do I know what's important in a class lecture?

Review your notes, use them to study, and after making your notes go back and rework them.
What do you do after you take notes?
Don't write every single word, never write sentences instead write phrases, never write a phrase instead write a word, write key words and phrases, and restate concepts in your own words.

What are 2-column notes?
The paper is split in two by a line down your paper. To the left you put key points and to the right you put detailed notes. Put a horizontal line across the bottom of your paper and in that section you will write a summary of the lesson/chapter from 2-4 sentences.
What are Cornell notes?
Turn headings into meaningful questions and write the answers to those questions by finding the information in your reading.
What are Q&A formats?
It uses a system of formal lettering and numbering to organize ideas and show relationships between ideas. Subtopics are indented under main topics and details are further indented under subtopics.
What are formal outlines?
Use indentation to organize information, just as formal outlines do. You use bullets and dashes and in informal outlines you don't use formal lettering/numbering system.
What are informal outlines?
During class, class discussion, small groups, during a movie or presentation, while reading on your own, while viewing online content or listening to an audio resource, while creating a study guide, during a group study buddy session.
When should we take notes?
To help organize information, to help find connections between ideas, to get additional information from the teacher or student, to help you study,to remember information, and to increase focus during class.
