Parallel Lines and Transversals
Vertical Angles
Angles that are ACROSS from each other and are formed by any intersecting lines.
Interior Angles
Angles that are between the two parallel lines
Corresponding Angles
Angles that lie on the same side of the transversal and on the same side of the parallel lines. Angles on the same corner.
Congruent
Having the same measurement.
Consecutive [Same-Side] Interior Angles
Angles between the parallel lines and on the same side of the transversal
Alternate Interior Angles
Angles between the parallel lines, but on opposite sides of the transversal (make a Z shape)
Linear Pairs
Angles next to each other that add up to 180 (make a line)
Alternate Exterior Angles
Angles on the outside of the parallel lines and on the opposite side of the transversal
Consecutive [Same-Side] Exterior Angles
Angles on the outside of the parallel lines but on the same side of the transversal
Exterior Angles
Angles on the outsides of the parallel lines
Supplementary Angles
Two angles that add to 180 degrees
Parallel Lines
Two lines that never intersect
Transversal
a line that intersects two or more lines to create pairs of congruent and supplementary angles.
