Inner membrane

Holds in the albumen and creates the air sack

Shell

The outside "protector" of the egg. Prevents bacteria from entering egg. (It also ha 17,000 pores on the surface)

Air sack

When chick breaks through inner membrane, the air sack provides it air to breath before breaking through shell.

Germinal spot

Allows for the egg to be fertilized.

Chalaza

Anchors yolk in the center of the egg for protection.

Outer membrane

First protective layer within the shell

Albumen

Major source of riboflavin and protein. The think parts incase and "protect the yolk?" Thin and thick parts.

Yolk

Provides vitamins, minerals, and fat for the chick.
