Path of Blood Through the Heart and Pulmonary Circuit
Step 3
Blood flow from right ventricle through the open pulmonary valve and into the pulmonary trunk
Step 6
Blood flows from the left atrium and through the mitral valve (or biscupid valve) and into the left ventricle
Step 7
Blood flows through open aortic valve and into the aorta, joining the systemic circuit, carrying oxygenated blood to all capillaries through the body
Step 2
Blood flows through open tricuspid valve and into right ventricle
Step 4
Blood pumps into right and left pulmonary arteries into the capillary beds in the left and right lungs; gets oxygenated and gives up carbon dioxide
Step 1
Deoxygenated blood from systemic circuit enters from inferior and superior vena cavae into right atrium
Step 5
Oxygenated blood flows into right and left pulmonary veins and into the left atrium
