Polarized light

Light is (plane) polarized if the electric field vectors all lie in one plane.

Unpolarized light

Light is unpolarized if the electric field vectors like on many planes.

Superposition

The overall displacement at any point will be the vector sum of all the individual wave displacements.

Polarization

A transverse wave is polarized if all the oscillations transferring the wave's energy are in the same plane (called the plane polarization)

Analyzer

An analyzer is a polarizing filter that when crossed with polarized light will allow you to see the angle of polarization.
