advanced maternal age ( >35 yrs) previous cesarean multiparity short interval between pregnancy uterine injury hx of uterine surgery
Signs and Symptoms of placenta previa
bright red painless bleeding during 3rd trimester signs of fetal distress ( placenta tearing ) fetus may be transverse or breeched diagnosis with ultrasound 1st bleeding episode may be 29-30 weeks (rarely life threatening)

edge of placenta close to os
Low-lying
not true prevue; placenta not in os, but implanted in lower uterine segment
Complete or Total
os is completely covered
Partial
part of os is covered
