Heading/Title/Headline

The title of a text. Provides you with a clue of the topic. Usually at the top, centered, and bold.

Bold/Color

a darkened word that's in darker print or in color. It signals the word is important and that the definition will be found in the glossary

Asterisk

a small star-like symbol indicates additional information is printed at the bottom of the page.

Italics

a style of printing where letters slant to the right. Used to draw attention to important ideas.

Font

the type and size of the text draws the reader's attention to the text

Caption

the words, phrase, or sentence(s) usually found under explains what is shown in an illustration or near an illustration

Subheading

A heading given to a section of the text.

Underlining

A line drawn under the text signals the word, phrase, or idea is important

Bullet

A dot or symbol before an item in a list. Emphasizes a list of items.
