Name, birth, family
Hi, my name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, better known as Queen Elizabeth the Second. I was born in London, Great Britain on April 21, 1926. My grandparents were King George V and Queen Mary. My parents were George VI and Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, also known as the Duke and Duchess of York. I had one sister named Margaret. My father called our family "The Us Four" because we were so close.
Impact on History
I am one of the most famous and recognized women in the world. I am the longest lived and second longest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.
Events when I was young
I did not go to school, but was taught by a royal governess named Marion Crawford, also known as "Crawfie." I studied the history of the royal family, poetry,the geography of the British Empire, mathematics, and French. I was an excellent student.
Family changes
I married Prince Philip of Greece in November 1947. I had four children named Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward. They have the title of Prince and Princess. I now have 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
events in later years
In 1936, my grandfather, King George V died. My uncle took over the throne as King Edward VIII, but he gave i up for love. My father then became King George VI and we moved to Buckingham Palace. In 1939, World War 2 started and my sister and I had to move to Windsor Castle because of it.
Heartbreak
In February of 1952, I heard the terrible news that my father had died. I was heartbroken. I became Queen Elizabeth II at the young age of 25! My coronation was in June of 1953 at Westminster Abbey. I became the Head of State of the United Kingdom. I also became the head of the Church of England. I head the Commonwealth, which is made up of 54 countries.
