A router is a piece of hardware which connects 2 or more Local area networks together.

$50-200 depending on the amount of data it can transfer and how much time it takes to send data.

What role does an ISP play in enabling your router to access the internet?

An ISP gives the router permission to access the internet as to communicate with all these servers you need satellite access which only phone companies can give you.

What are data packets?

Data packets are broken down pieces of data that are broken down and sent through the router and then reassembled by the router it is being sent to and then displayed.

How does a router work?

It is what enables us to access the internet as the Internet is nothing but millions of servers connected to each other, which store and share information over the internet. The router enables us to connect to these servers and access the information stored in them.

Security and Speed (the wired network is better for both)
