Finance module of SAP's new S/4HANA core product, which will replace R3. Simple Finance is a solution and is cloud-based. Smart Financials is part of that package, but there is much more included. As stated, it means managed services in the cloud so it means paying on subscription base for services from SAP thus utilizing their HANA Enterprise Cloud - HANA Cloud Platform architecture / applications deployed on that. So sFin really means your customers go "SAP Cloud". Smart Financials will then be part of that set of applications (systems) that are part of sFin. If we talk on-premise, we don't talk about Simple Finance, instead we talk about Financial add-on. Smart Financials is part of the Financial add-on. Serves internal and external stakeholders. Total tables and application index tables have been removed and replaced with HANA views with the same technical names. *Need to assess the impact this will have on your interfaces, data warehouse, authorization profiles, and potentially, your monitoring tools. -Some industry solutions and SAP ERP add-ons are not fully compatible with SFin, like FI-AA. *Carefully assess compatibility with other components in your landscape. -The user experience is likely to change. *Assess the impact on the required skill-set in your teams and the potential need to rewrite documentation and/or training materials. -Handle the required SP levels for SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 and for SAP NetWeaver 7.40 with the utmost caution and as described in the administrator's guide. -Before you install the Finance add-on, prepare the migration of application data (steps require specific financials application knowledge). -Install the finance add-on (latest version from SAP Service Marketplace) using the Software Update Manager (SUM).
