A mountain valley carved by a glacier has a shape of a

"U"

In high mountains, a valley carved by a stream has the shape of a

"V"

How does a kettle lake form?

A bowl-shaped depression that was formed by a block of ice from a glacier and then became filled with water

How does a moraine form?

A deposit of till left behind by a retreating glacier

How does alluvial fan form?

A fan shaped deposit of sediment at the base of a mountain and forms as water flows down the slope and spreads at the bottom.

How does a glacier move?

A glacier moves by sliding and flowing. A glacier slides by the weight of the glacier and heat of the Earth cause the bottom of the glacier to melt then it slides on a layer of water. A glacier flows by ice near the surface cracks ,then ice near the inside does not crack easily and is under great pressure, and then it flows like toothpaste coming out of a tube.

How does an oxbow lake form?

A lake formed as the river deposited sediment and changed course

How does a barrier island form?

A long narrow island that forms parallel to a coast as a sandbar builds up above the water surface.

How does a dune form?

A mound of sand built up by wind

How does a delta form?

A river deposits sediment as it enters the ocean.

How does a sandbar form?

A sandbar is a ridge of sand built up by the action of waves and currents

How is deposition a part ersosion

Deposition is part of erosion because it moves sediments to a new location or deposits them.

What is the effect of a longshore current on a beach?

It affects a beach because a longshore current is a movement of water along a shore and waves strike the shore at an angle.

How does a sinkhole form?

It forms when the roof of a cave becomes so thin that it suddenly falls in.

How is deposition part of the erosion process?

It is part of the erosion process because deposition is in which sediment is placed in a new location, or deposited.

A sinkhole is formed by the collapse of

a cavern

Why is mass movement of mud called a flow?

because a lot of mud flows down a hill

Ground Moraine:

blanket of till that a glacier deposits along its bottom

Drainage basins are separated by a

divide

Strong winds can transport large quantities of

dry sand

The main natural force responsible for mass movements of rocks and debris is

gravity

Aka continental glaciers

ice sheets

An oxbow lake is frmed by the cutting off of a

meander

Sandbars spits and barrier islands can all be built up by

ocean waves

Rivers transport sediment to

oceans and lakes

Where is the till?

over there

AKa apline glaicers

valley glaciers

The first stage of the erosion process is

weathering

A dune is a sand mound built up by primarily by

wind
