What kind of support (good or bad) did Luther receive?

Martin Luther got good support because his friends protected him and protecting him allowed him to translate the bible into German. The bad support he received was that some of the peasants who thought his ideas were good, thought of breaking into Church and stealing back their money and started attacking and rebelling. Martin Luther told German princes that he had nothing to do with the attacks and that his idea of rebelling was different than theirs. The people who survived being shut down by the German Princes, hated Martin Luther.

Pope Paul III a) developed missionary work and educational work through the Jesuits (Ignatious of Loyola). b) they studied into indulgences, c) they reinstituted the Inquisition, d) also instituted the Council of Trent- say salvation comes from faith and good works, the Bible was the major source of religious truth (interpreted by the Pope)

Why do you think some of the German Princes supported the Pope while others supported Luther?

Some princes supported the Pope because they were already strong Catholics. ome princes supported Luther because they thought at if they supported Luther, they thought they wouldn't have to pay extra money to the Church.

Which authority figures lost the most as a result of the Protestant Reformation? Which ones gained the most from it? Explain your answers.

The Roman Catholic authority church lost the most people from The Protestant Reformation. The stricter the religion, the more demeaning the religion was to women. Monarchs and religious advocates will gain the power.
