words to describe distribution of a rash/lesion
extent - isolated, localized, regionalized, generalized pattern - symmetrical, intertriginous area, random characteristic pattern
plaque
flat top elevated palpable solid lesion greater than 1 cm

grouped clustered lesion
circumscribed lesion
has a distinct shape
scale

lesions that occur outside blood vessels
petechiae, purpura, ecchymosis, hematoma, do not blanch!
pustule
pus-filled vesicle, indicates infection
tumor
raised lesion 1-2 cm in diameter and depth
scar
skin grows back over lesion, a little raised
erosion

atrophy
thinning of skin surface, shiny
