Concentrated solution

Concentrated solution is a solution that contains a large amount of solute relative to the amount that could dissolve.

Supersaturated solution

Definition. A supersaturated solution is one that contains more solute, or dissolved material, than it would under normal conditions.

Dilute solution

Dilution is a reduction in the pH of a chemical (gas, vapor, solution). It is the process of decreasing the concentration of a solute in solution, usually simply by mixing with more solvent. To dilute a solution means to add more solvent without the addition of more solute.

Insoluble

(of a substance) incapable of being dissolved.

Colloid

A colloid is a solution that has particles ranging between 1 and 1000 nanometers in diameter, yet are still able to remain evenly distributed throughout the solution. These are also known as colloidal dispersions because the substances remain dispersed and do not settle to the bottom of the container.

Heterogeneous mixtures

A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that composes of components that aren't uniform or they have localized regions that all have different properties. Despite the term appearing to be highly scientific, there are various common substances that are heterogeneous mixtures

Solvent

A solvent is the solution, liquid, or gas part of the solute concentration. The definition of solute concentration is the amount of solutes/particles that are dissolved in a solution. Together the solute and the solvent become the solution.

Solute

A substance dissolved in another substance, usually the component of a solution present in the lesser amount. solute in Science Expand. solute. (A substance that is dissolved in another substance (a solvent), forming a solution.

Alloys

Alloys are materials made up of more than one chemical element, at least one of which must be a metal. The combination of elements has metallic properties that differ from those of the base, component elements. They are also made of 2 or more metals.

Heterogeneous systems

Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) is a cross-vendor set of specifications that allow for the integration of central processing units and graphics processors on the same bus, with shared memory and tasks. The HSA is being developed by the HSA Foundation, which includes (among many others) AMD and ARM.

Concentration

In chemistry, concentration is the abundance of a constituent divided by the total volume of a mixture. Several types of mathematical description can be distinguished: mass concentration, molar concentration, number concentration, and volume concentration.

Solubility

Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance, the solute, to dissolve in a solvent. It is measured in terms of the maximum amount of solute dissolved in a solvent at equilibrium. The resulting solution is called a saturated solution.

Saturated solution

The term saturated solution is used in chemistry to define a solution in which no more solvent can be dissolved. It is understood that saturation of the solution has been achieved when any additional substance that is added results in a solid precipitate or is let off as a gas.

Rate of solution

When a solute in a solvent forms a solution, it is called dissolution. A solute is the primary substance that is dissolved in a liquid called the solvent. So what this means is that it is when something dissolves in something else. There are many factors that affect the rate at which a solute will dissolve.

Ways to increase the rate of solution

When the total surface area of the solute particles is increased, the solute dissolves more rapidly. Breaking a solute into smaller pieces increases its surface area and increases its rate of solution. Stirring -- With liquid and solid solutes, stirring brings fresh portions of the solvent in contact with the solute.

Solution

a liquid mixture in which the minor component (the solute) is uniformly distributed within the major component (the solvent)

Mixture

a substance made by mixing other substances together.

Unsaturated solution

temperature of the solvent increases, solubility increases. Additionally, pressure and the nature of the solute and solvent affect solubility. When a solution can have solute added and dissolved, the solution is unsaturated.
