Solving Quadratic Equation

A quadratic function is an equation that can be written in the general form ax^2 + bx + c = 0 where a≠0 Solving a quadratic equations algebraically/ graphically 1. Factoring 2. Extracting the Root/ Square Root Property 3. Completing the square 4. Quadratic Formula To solve the quadratic equation graphically graph the parabola and find the x-intercepts!!

Solving by Factoring

To solve by factoring, the equation must be set to zero, so you can factor, then apply the zero - product principle

Quadratic Formula

To solve by using the quadratic formula, the equation must be equal to zero, so you can use the formula below

Solving Graphically

To solve graphically you must graph the parabola, then identify the x-intercepts of the graph

Completing the Square

To solve by completing the square the equation must be equal to the c term, find (b/2)^2, add the result to both sides, factor the resulting trinomial, then extract the root

Extracting the Root (Square Root Property)

To solve by extracting the root you must isolate the square term then take the square root of both sides and simplify.
