Sound waves
Vibration
A movement shaking back and forth
High pitches
High pitches vibrate faster and have a high frequency (speed). Long objects have loud pitches and high vibration
Energy
The ability to cause change or make things move
sound
a form of energy that is made by vibration. It can be heard by a sound receptor (ears, animals, and machine receptors)
Amplitude
how tall the wave is. The taller the wave, the more energy it has. A loud volume has a tall amplitude.
Sound receptors
something that hears a sound. Can be human, animal, or machine.
Pitch
the highness or lowness of a sound. The longer the length, the lower the pitch. The shorter the length, the higher the pitch.
volume
the loudness or softness of a sound. If you want to increase the volume, you need to give the sound more energy. For example, strum the guitar harder
Frequency
the number of vibration in a given time. For example, speed
Sound wave
travels in all directions. Sound waves are like ocean waves
