Formation of Adverbs. Adverbs are words that describe, or modify, verbs, adjectives or other adverbs. Most Spanish adverbs are formed by adding -mente to the feminine singular form of the adjective. This ending corresponds to -ly in English

uses of ser

Identity, Characteristics of people and things, Generalizations, What something is made of, profession or Occupation, Nationality and place of origin, Time and Date, Where or when an event takes place.

infinitive (BASE FORM OF VERB)

You will be able to recognize the infinitive form of verbs in Spanish because they always end in one of three ways: - ar, - er, or - ir. The above examples of infinitives include one of each type. Because hablar ends in - ar, it is called an - ar verb. Beber is an -er verb and escribir is an -ir verb.

present tense of estar (to be)

although estar ends in -ar, it does not follow the pattern of regular -ar verbs. The yo form (estoy) is irregular. Also, ALL forms have an accented á except the yo and nosotros/as.

Conjugation of -ar verbs

estudiar (infinitve) estudi- (verb stem) yo estudio (conjugated form) bailar(infinitive) bail-(verb stem) tú bailas(conjugated form)
