Epithelial Cells

Specialized cells in tissues that line cavities and surfaces throughout the body. Functions include secretion, absorption, protection, transport, and sensation. Ex: skin, intestines, blood vessels.

Blood cells (Red, White and Platelets)

Specialized cells that are involved in immune function, transport oxygen, formation of clots.

skeletal muscle cell

cell is thick and can contract and relax. Its responsible for movement and support of the skeletal system

stem tip of a plant

growing point is protected by developing leaves. Axillary buds are developing into new growing points

sperm cell

haploid cell that carries half of the genetic information needed to create a zygote. It uses a tail like structure for movement.

goblet Cell

located in the intestinal tract and responsible for the excretion of mucus. it provides lubrication

responsible for pumping blood, oxygen, nutrients through out the body.

roots continue to grow as they "search" for water and nutrients. Great for studying the cell cycle. At any given time, you can find cells in various stages of mitosis.

smooth muscle cell

specialized cells that contain filaments that can slide past each other to facilitate motion of the cell (groups of cells)

store calcium and creates blood cells.

store large amounts of energy in the form of fat
