How do parameter and statistic differ?

Parameter is numerical measurement of a population characteristic and statistic is a numerical measurement of a sample.

Stastic

a # that describes a sample (Sample stastic)

Cencus

collection of data from EVERY member of the population

Population

complete collection of all measurements or data that are being considered

qualitative data

consists of attributes, labels, or non numerical entries.

Nominal Level of Measurement

data that consist of names, labels, or categories ONLY

Interval level of Measurement

if they can be arranged in order and differences between data values can be found
