1. General and medical history 2. Occupation, Lifestyle, Medical and Personal information.
What SUBJECTIVE information can be collected from a client in relation to their medical history?
1. Past injuries- ankle sprains, knee injuries, low-back injuries, and shoulder injuries 2. Past surgeries- foot, knee, back, and shoulder surgeries, caesarean section (C-section), or appendectomy
What assessments can be performed on a client in order to collect OBJECTIVE information?
1. Physiologic assessments 2. Body composition testing 3. Cardiorespiratory assessments 4. Static and Dynamic Postural assessments 5. Performance assessments
OBJECTIVE information during a fitness assessment includes the following:
1. Resting and exercise physiological measurements Ex. blood pressure, heart rate 2. Resting anthropometric measurements Ex. height, weight, body fat percentage, circumference measurements
What are the effects of past injuries?
Causes WEAKNESS and MUSCLE IMBALANCES.
Why is it important to collect OBJECTIVE information during a fitness assessment?
It can be used to compare beginning baseline measures of fitness with measurements taken weeks, months, or even years later.
During a SUBJECTIVE assessment, the client reveals that they do REPETITIVE MOVEMENTS (doing the same movement over and over again). What does this cause?
Musculoskeletal injury and dysfunction.
Why is it important to collect a clien't s medical history?
Personal trainers can gather important information such as coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. It can also provide the client's past and current health status such as injuries, surgeries, or other health conditions.
When collecting SUBJECTIVE information, what is the difference between RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES and HOBBIES?
Recreational- Physical activities outside of work. Ex. sports, jogging, gym Hobbies- Activities enjoyed regularly but are not athletic. Ex. Watching t.v., reading a book, playing video games
What is the difference between subjective and objective information?
SUBJECTIVE INFORMATION- is collected through questionnaires OBJECTIVE INFORMATION- is collected through direct measurement
During a SUBJECTIVE assessment, the client reveals that they SIT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. What does this cause?
Tight hip flexors and postural imbalances (low energy and poor cardiorespiratory conditioning).
During a SUBJECTIVE assessment, the client reveals that they WEAR SHOES WITH A HIGH HEEL. What does this cause?
Tightness in Gastrocnemius (calf), Soleus (the bottom side of the leg), and Achilles Tendon (bottom back of leg).
