Deaf people are the only people that can give name signs. There are two different types of name signs; descriptive and arbitrary. Descriptive name signs take the first initial of a first name or last name and combine it with a sign that describes something about that person. An arbitrary name sign is the first initial of the first name or the first initial of the last name and has nothing to do with who the person is.
