Tufts DPT - Manual Muscle Testing Exam 2
MMT 3
Fair able to move through full range of motion against gravity. Unable to hold against minimal resistance.
MMT Grading: Ankle PF 3
1-9 heel raises
MMT Procedure
1. First check their available ROM to know what "full ROM" is available to go through 2. Ask they can move through their full available ROM against gravity they are at least a 3/5 a. If yes - add resistance b. If no - move to gravity minimized positions 3. If painful with resisted testing, a grade cannot be determined as pain limiting although you may document" at least a ____ limited by pain"
MMT Protocol (6 Steps)
1. Know the patient position 2. Know your position 3. Know what you should be stabilizing 4. Know what you should be palpating - what muscles are being tested?? 5. What the cues are that you will provide and where to apply the resistance 6. Grading of MMT
