How to Autofit
A column or row by double clicking the right border of the column heading or the bottom border of the row heading.
Excel treats a currency value such as $87.25 as 87.25
And a percentage - 95% as 0.95.
Autofit
Changes the column width or row height to display the longest or tallest entry within the column or row.

Resizing columns and rows
Column widths are expressed as a number of characters the column can contain. Default width is 8.43 standard size characters. 8 characters in a cell, additional text is hidden or overlapped.

If the row or column is blank, auto fitting restores it's default height or width.

If you work on multiple computers or share your workbooks with others, you should set column widths based on the max number of characters you want displayed in the cells rather than pixel size.
Numbers can be intergers - 378, decimals - 1.95 or negatives - -5.2
In the case of currency and percentages, you can include the currency symbol and percent sign when you enter the value.
A point
Is a approximately 1/72 of inch. The default row height is 15 points or 20 pixels.
A Pixel
Is a single point on a computer monitor or print out.
A column width of 8.43 characters
Is equivalent to 64 pixels.
To increase the width of column A
Move the pointer over the right border of the column A heading until the pointer changes to a vertical line with left and right arrows. Click and drag to the right until the width is where you want it. 15 characters.
Setting column widths 1
On a computer monitor, pixel size is based on screen resolution. As a result, Cell contents that look fine on one screen might appear very different when viewed on a screen with a different resolution.
Column widths are also expressed in terms of

If you want to create a new line within a cell
Press the ALT + Enter keys.
Wrapping text within a cell
Resize the width of the column, select the range, on the home tab, in the Alignment group, click wrap text. Row height increases to accommodate the wrapped text.

To select multiple columns, you can also click and drag the pointer over multiple column headings.

You can also set the row height by clicking the format button in the cells. Group on the HOME tab and then using the Row Height command.
Row heights are set in the same way as column widths.
You drag the bottom border of the row heading to a new row height, specify a row height using the format command, or autofit the row's height to match its content.
