The peace of Augsburg allowed each German ruler to decide which religion his realm would follow- Catholic of Lutheran.Instead of a unified Catholic empire. Germany was now a group of independent regions. The edict of Nantes was made by the king of or another Authority. The edict made the Catholic Church the official church of France but freedom to the practice their own religion. The peace of Westphalia allowed people to practice their own religion even if it's different from the kings religion. Therefore leaders needed new forms of government to meet the challenges of their developing nations.
