Mixture

2 or more subtsances that have been put together, but have not been changed chemically

Saturated solution

A saturated solution is a solution that holds the maximum amount of solute it can for a given temperature iff too much solute is added, the extra solute will settle out of the solution

Unsaturated

A solution that can dissolve,or hold more solute

Unsaturated solution

A solution that can hold more solute for a given temperature

Saturated

A solution that has all the solute it can dissolve or hold. "Full"

Concentrated

A strong solution

Dilute

A weak solution

Soluble

Able to dissolve

What is density

Density is a measure of how much mass is contained in a given amount of volume. Density is how tightly packed the molecules are inside an object.

Liquid layers

If you pour together liquids that DON'T mix and have DIFFERENT densities, they will form liquid layers. The liquid with the highest density will be on the bottom The liquid with the lowest density will be on the top

Mass

Mass is the amount of material (atoms) in an object. The mass of an object never changes, however, the WEIGHT of an object can change if there is a change in gravity. UNIT-Gram (g)

Solution

Mixture in which one substance is dissolved in another

Sink or float

Remember: The density of water is 1.o g/mL . Anything with a density GREATER THAN 1.o g/mL will SINK Anything with a density LESSTHAN 1.o glmL will FLOAT

What's 3 ways that water dissolve

Stirring, crushing, heating

Does density of an object change to its size changes?

The density of an object does not change with the size of the object because when the size changes, so does the mass and volume.

Solute

The mixture that is dissolved in a solution (ex:the salt in salt water)

Solvent

The substance in which a solute dissolve(ex:the water in salt water)

Insoluble

Unable to dissolve

Volume

Volume is the amount of space an object takes up There are 2 different ways to calculate volume depending on the size and shape of the object

Supersaturated

a solution that is holding more than it can dissolve (solute will begin coming out of solution)
