AP Projection- Alternate Partial Flexion: Elbow

-when elbow can't be fully extended -2 Projections: Humerus parallel to IR & forearm parallel to IR -CR at mid-elbow joint

Trauma Axial Lateromedial & Mediolateral Projections (Coyle Method): Elbow

-2 Projections: Radial Head & Coronoid Process -Radial Head: 90 degree elbow flexion, CR directed 45 degrees toward shoulder, centered to radial head/ mid-elbow joint -Coronoid Process: 80 degree elbow flexion, CR directed 45 degrees from shoulder, into mid-elbow joint

AP Projection: Elbow

-CR at mid-elbow joint

AP Projection: Forearm

-CR at mid-forearm -minimum of 3-4 cm distal to wrist & elbow joints are included

AP Oblique Projection- Medial (Internal) Rotation: Elbow

-best visualizes coronoid process of ulna and trachlea -CR at mid-elbow joint

AP Oblique Projection- Lateral (External) Rotation: Elbow

-best visualizes radial Head & neck of radius and capitulum of Humerus -rotate arm laterally until distal Humerus and anterior surface of elbow joint are 45 degrees to IR -CR directed to mid-elbow joint

Lateromedial Projection: Forearm

-elbow flexed 90 degrees -hand & wrist in true lateral -CR at mid-forearm -minimum of 3-4 cm distal to wrist & elbow joints are included

Lateromedial Projection: Elbow

-elevated or displaced fat pads may be visualized -CR at mid-elbow joint

Radial Head-Lateromedial Projections: Elbow

-used for occult fractures of radial Head or neck -CR at radial Head

Acute Flexion Projections: Elbow

-when elbow can't extend to any degree -2 Projections: CR perp. to Humerus, CR perp. to Forearm -Humerus: CR directed midway between epicondyles -Forearm: CR directed 2 in. superior to olecranon process
