A fragment is
a piece of a sentence that is punctuated as a complete sentence. But it does not express a complete thought.

action of the clause.
While phrases can never be sentences, they enable you to
add complexity to your ideas and variety to your writing.
In the following sentences, dependent clauses function as adjectives. These types of clauses are often called

A clause is restrictive (or essential or identifying) if
the meaning of the sentence would not be clear without it. Do not use a comma with a restrictive clause.
