Briefly describe an initial reaction taken as a result of the changing views by either the British or colonists

Assertion: An initial reaction of the English would be that they believed that the American Colonists can not defend the frontier of the British Empire. Evidence: Based on the colonists' behavior in the Seven Years' War as seen by the British, described as unorganized and untrained rabble. The Commentary:

Briefly explain the British view of how the Seven Years' War fundamentally changed the relationship between Britain and its American Colonies.

Assertion: The British perspective of the American colonies was deeply affected by the Seven Years' War due to the colonists' refusal to contribute manpower and money into the war effort. Evidence: The lack of colonist support in the French and Indian war would result in a deeply indebted Britain. Britain in order to pay its debt ended the practice of Salutary Neglect and resulted in the creation of the Sugar Act of 1764 and the Stamp Act of 1765-- both with the intention of raising revenue. Commentary: Taxation with the purpose of collecting revenue without representation goes against English Law, inherently treating the colonists as if they were not English citizens, leading into the chain of events that would end in the desire for American Independence.

Briefly explain the colonial view as a result of the war.

Assertion: The colonists believed that they performed exceptionally well in the Seven Years' War. Evidence: Their tactics were better suited for the terrain in comparison the the English utilizing strategy that would be excellent in the European front however questionable in the woodlands and wilderness of North America. Commentary: Their perceived successes in the four wars developed confidence within the colonists that they can defend their land without the need for foreign assistance.
