230.24(B) Vertical Clearance for Overhead Service Conductors

(12 ft) over residential property and driveways and those commercial areas not subject to truck traffic where the voltage does not exceed 300 volts to ground.

230.23 Size and Rating

(A) General. conductors shall have sufficient ampacity to carry the current for the load as calculated in accordance to Article 220 and shall have adequate mechanical strength.

A building or other structure served shall be supplied by only one service unless permitted in 230.2 (A) through (D)

Service conductors considered outside a building where installed under not less than 2 inches of concrete beneath the building or in a raceway encased by not less than 2 inches of concrete or brick within the building.

230.3 One Building or Other Structure Not to be Supplied Through Another

Servicing conductors supplying a building or other structure shall not pass through the interior of another building or other structure.

The overhead conductors between the service point and the first point of connection to the service-entrance conductors at the building or other structure.

Service Drop

The overhead conductors between the utility electric supply system and the service point.

Service Point

The point of connection between the facilities of the serving utility and the premises wiring

Service Lateral

The underground conductors between the utility electric supply system and the servicing point. Underground service lateral conductors installed by the electric utility must comply with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

the service disconnecting means shall plainly indicate whether it is in the open (off) or closed (on) position
