Court
*The court is a rectangular plain,spacious flat surface and free of obstacles which means 25m x 18m *In international games its size is 28 by 15m (92 by 24 ft) *In NBA, 29 by 15 (94 by 50 ft.) *The top of the rim is exactly 10 ft. (3.05) above the court and 4 ft. (1.2m) inside the baseline.
Ball
*Weight is less than 600-650 grams *It is less than 75-78cm in circumference *Height of 180m when dropped on the playing surface and will rebound to a height of 1.20-1.40 m MEN- the official ball is 29.5 inches (74.9cm) in circumference (size 7, or a 295 ball) and weighs 22 ounces (624 grams) WOMEN-the official basketball size is 28.5 inches (74.4 cm) in circumference (size 6, or a 285ball) with a weight of 20 ounces (567 grams)
DRIBBLING
A basic skill done by pushing the ball repeatedly to the floor. Tapping the ball is not allowed. The fingers control the ball. This can be done different levels; high, medium, low and very low. It can also be done fast and slow.
Jump Shot
A shot executed with both feet taken off from the floor in a vertical jump, arms straight upward and legs and feet slightly apart in the air.
Lay-up Shot
A shot that involves dribbling and running skills. It is executed by dribbling the ball away from the basket, taking off in right or left foot, stretching arms and hands, and using the board to bank the shot.
Dunk Shot or Fancy Shot
A shot that is commonly known as slum shot. It is executed with forceful shot above the rim, powerful and fancied. Not recommended for beginners because of its risk to injury.
Set Shot
A shot usually done with the feet flat on the ground, or a shot executed with a screen and peek from the team mates to get an easy shot.
What is Basketball?
A team sport in which two teams of five active players each try to score a point against one another by propelling a ball through a 10ft high hoop (the ball) under organized rules. Basketball is one of the most popular and widely viewed sports in the world.
Speed Dribble
A type of dribbling that can be done during a fast break situation or when no opponent is guarding the ball handler.
Control Dribble
A type of dribbling that can be used to protect the ball from an opponent who is close by.
BOUNCE PASS
Any of the first three passes describe can be adapted to make a bounce pass. The object is to get the pass to the receiver on first bounce so that the ball comes to this out stretched hands about waist high. The ball must be bounced a little more than halfway between the two players

Each player is assign to guard a specific area of the court. Zone defense often allow the defense to double the team ball, maneuver known as a trap

CHEST PASS
Generally, one foot is ahead of the other, knees flexed slightly. Ball is held at chest level, fingers spread at reach side of the ball. Elbows remain close to the body and the ball is sent with extended arms and proper wrist snap, as one foot moves toward the receiver

OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS
In which ball is recovered by the offensive side and does not change possession
DEFENSIVE REBOUNDS
In which the defending team gains possession of the loose ball. The majority of rebounds are defensive, as the team on defense tends to be in better position to recover missed shots
Position 3 SMALL FORWARD
Often primarily responsible for scoring points via cuts to the basket and dribble penetration on defense seeks rebound and steal
Position 4 POWER FORWARD
Plays offensively often with his back to the basket; on defense, plays under the basket (in a zone defense) or against the opposing power forward (in man-to-man defense)
CATCHING
Stand in a relax but stable and firm position. Place both hand in front with open arms ready to catch the ball. And as the ball comes, catch it with both hands and do the receiving motion.
OVERHEAD PASS
Stand in a short position, with the ball held overhead. The arms upward, throw with a forceful wrist snap. The pass should take a slight downward path to be the most effective

Ring

Position 5 CENTER
Uses size to score (on offense), to protect the basket closely (on defense), or to rebound.
Position 1 POINT GUARD
Usually the fastest player on the teams offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time; can also be called the "Floor General"
