a corner, feature of shape of bone

process

a raised area or projection, attaches connective tissues

notch

a v-like depression in the margin/edge of a flat area; articulatory surface

epicondyle

bump near a condyle; often give appearance of a bump; for muscle attachment

sinus

cavity within a bone

ramus

curved portion of a bone, look like a ram's horn

margin

edge of a flat bone/ flat portion of the edge of a flat area

epiphysis

end part of a long bone which usually has a larger diameter than the shaft part of the bones; articular part of long bones

sulcus

groove, crevice, or furrow; elongated depressions may accommodate a blood vessel, nerve or tendon; channel-like depression

trochanter

large blunt bump-like projection(larger than a tuberosity, larger than a tubercle)

tuberosity

large-rounded projection that may look like a raised bump; often sites for muscle attachment

fissure

long. crack-like hole for blood vessels and nerves; channel-like cleft/crack

body

main portion of bone

crest

moderately raised and therefore prominent border or ridge; often sites for a muscle attachment

foramen

round hole through which blood vessels, nerves, or ligaments pass

condyle

rounded bump/large rounded prominence usually fit into a fossa on another bone to form a joint

head

rounded projection that forms part of a joint and separated from the shaft of the same bone by a narrow portion

neck

section of bone between the head and shaft of the bone, it's a narrowed portion

diaphysis

shaft of a long bone

fossa

shallow depression; often receive another articulating bone which a joint is formed

line

similar to a crest but not raised as much- may be faint

spine/spinous process

similar to a crest but raised higher; a sharp, pointed slender projection; often sites for muscle attachment

tubercle

small tuberosity that may also be described as a round nodule or warty outgrowth; process that attaches connective tissue and can also form articular surfaces

facet

smooth, flat articular surface; such flat surfaces may form a joint w/ another _____ or flat bone

meatus

tube-like opening/channel extending within a bone
